The Canyon County Spuds are a new team in the Expedition League. They will play their first games at the College of Idaho baseball field, Wolfe Field, in Caldwell. The first home game is scheduled for May 25th against the Mining City Tommyknockers. If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, you can always listen to Spuds TV.
With 53 days until opening day, its time to see how the players are doing:
Right-Handed Pitcher – Max Holtzclaw – Northwest Nazarene University
This season for the Nighthawks Holtzclaw has primarily served as the closing pitcher, recording four saves so far. For a team that has done very well this season, Max is pitching to a very impressive 0.55 ERA through 16.1 innings. In the innings he has worked, he has dominantly struck out 27 batters. The Nighthawks still have twelve games to play.

Catcher – Lucas Danielewicz – Mesa Community College
The season for the Mesa Thunderbirds ends the first week in May. However they’ve already played 37 games this season. Danielewicz has played in 35 games this season, and he is hitting .324/.426/.426 with 8 doubles, 1 homerun and 33 RBIs.
Left-Handed Pitcher – Blake McFadden – Northwest Nazarene University
Much like Max, McFadden has been dominant for the Nighthawks this season. As a Senior, Blake has pitched to a 1.96 ERA through 18.1 innings. Out of the bullpen, he has 3 wins in 11 appearances. He averages 1 strikeout per inning. Blake McFadden comes to you as a Canyon County local boy. He grew up in Nampa.
Infielder – Noah Dehne – North Dakota State University
Noah has not played much this season. He has played in 11 games for NDSU. But this summer he will be looking to get some valuable playing time.

Outfielder – David Bedrosian – Ponoma- Pitzer
This season Bedrosian has played 10 games. In the games that he played, he hit .323, with a Homerun, 7 RBI’s and 1 SB. He however, has not played in a game since March 9th.

Right- Handed Pitcher – Dimmick Wood – College of Idaho
As a senior this season, Wood is coming to the Spuds from C of I as a starting pitcher. As of April 22, he is 3-4 on the season with a 5.04 ERA through a total of 55.1 innings. This season he has also come out of the bullpen and recorded a save. So he could be a multi-purpose pitcher, who can take the ball on the mound at any time throughout the game. Dimmick is coming to the Spuds from Boise.
