The Canyon County Spuds are getting ready to host the Mining City Tommyknockers for another three-game series. This trip makes the third time that the Tommyknockers have come to play at Wolfe Field. On the season, the Canyon County Spuds are 4 – 8 against Mining City. But all except for one of those games was in the first half of the season.

What’s Different This Time?

The Canyon County Spuds have been going deeper in counts on offense, and getting more hits and runs on the board. On July 4th, The Spuds saw the first grand slam in franchise history.

Many players for the Spuds have been swinging some hot bats as of late. Joey Grabanski has had two home runs in the last week, Carson Hake is finally starting to come around and is on a five-game hitting streak. The Spuds did not see the 2020 Expedition League MVP Ronnie McBride, He should be back in the lineup this week against the Mining City Tommyknockers. In the third game against Western Nebraska Pioneers, Kayne Ross went 3 for 5 with the 2 singles and the home run. While the hitting has started to come around, the pitching has struggled. Dylan Gardner is expected to be on the bump tonight in Game 1 of the 3 game series.

“Where we are at, where we’ve been as a team. We know what to expect, we know the caliber of baseball that we can play as a team.” Said Coach Daylon Dobish, “We are not many missing any of our puzzle pieces and we are on home turf. Right in the middle of a playoff hunt, we’re looking to take it one game at a time and rattle of some wins.”
