The All-Stars have been announced. The Canyon County Spuds will have four all-stars going to the mid-season classic between July 19th and the 21st. Congratulations to all the All-Stars around the league, but a huge congrats to our 4 guys.
The 2021 All-Star contest will be held in Casper. Fans can listen to either Hannah Martian and the Casper Horseheads broadcast or to the Western Nebraska Pioneers broadcaster Zack McKinstry.
The Four All-Stars for the Spuds are Max Holtzclaw, Zach Tallerman, Brendan Thome, and Blake McFadden.
Max Holtzclaw is a starter for the Spuds, who on the year has a 2.25 ERA through 28 Innings Pitched. Holtzclaw is 1-0 and has 35 strikeouts for the Spuds. Last Night, he went seven strong innings for the Spuds, only allowing 1 run, and striking out 11 batters. Which set a new franchise record for the Spuds, Most Strikeouts in a Game by a Spuds pitcher. He is a First Team All-GNAC Closer for the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks.
Zach Tallerman has been one of the most consistent hitters on the Spuds Roster. Tallerman is a Freshman from Cuesta College, on the year for the Spuds he has split time at First, Third, and DH. He leads the Spuds in batting average with a .336, and in RBI’s with 30. He has 3 2B, 2 3B, and 1 HR for the Spuds.
Brendan Thome is a Sophomore from Mesa Community College. On the season, Thome is 3-1 with a 3.90 ERA in 30 Innings. He is tied for the team lead in Wins with Spuds reliever Noah Stevens. He struggled in his last start but has been the best starter on the Spuds pitching staff for the better half of the season.
And the Fourth All-Star for the Spuds:
Blake McFadden from Northwest Nazarene, McFadden a local kid from Meridian, Idaho. He only pitches at home games but is 2-0 on the year with a 1.00 ERA through 18 Innings Pitched. He has 25 strikeouts through those 18 innings. And opponents are hitting just .257 against him.
